The Biological Engineering Collaboratory

Picture
Hello! And welcome to the Biological Engineering Collaboratory! To find out more about the network please read the Introduction. To learn who we are please see the Members page. If you are aiming to contact the network please see the Contact page.
The BEC is an interdisciplinary network. It is designed to help make historical, philosophical, and social scientific study of the intersections of biology and engineering much more visible, while providing a platform for further growth in this area. The network intends to:
  1. Help Members find collaborators for projects, panels, symposia and workshops.
  2. Communicate news about relevant Events and publications.
  3. Stimulate interdisciplinary thinking and discussion.
  4. Host a Blog to share insights into our research as it develops.
  5. Host Resources that we will develop in order to aid those entering the field and promote its growth.
(We are stealing this idea from Natasha Myers’ Plant Studies Collaboratory).

Though each network member differs in terms of training, research background, motivation, or method, we nevertheless recognise some key shared interests and questions. We are brought together by a commitment to investigating knowledge making by many different means, and a recognition that historical, philosophical and social scientific methods are particularly complementary.
